Hi, If you have an XP POSReady machine, you're almost certain to have experienced update delays due to svchost using 100% CPU. Microsoft have never managed to resolve this problem so instead of waiting for hours/days for the updates to download, you can get them direct from the Microsoft Update Catalogue here. You can either download/install all new updates manually or if you download/install the latest IE8 cumulative security update, you should find the rest will download/install through a manual Microsoft Update check. Disabling auto update will avoid svchost induced freezes. Please help. Thanks! I didn't find the right solution from the Internet.
