Being mindful of the Five Contemplations for Eating is a practice wherein we apply selective concentration on the food being eaten. It’s the first step in recognizing what food is, why we eat it, where it comes from, and when and how to eat it. As a practice, one considers if he or she is worthy of the food received; that food is a necessity and a healing agent for the body; that food is received and eaten to help realize the “Way" or a part of the means-to-an-end to reach enlightenment. Here is a good link to the food section of Tricycle Magazine. The recipe listed sounds taste but of particular benefit are the Web links at the end of the recipe. Click the link for Local Grown and you can search all around southeast Michigan for stores and markets and places to get wholesome, healthy, planetary safe food. www.tricycle.com/food/whats-dinnerSee Thay's talk on the first of the Five Contemplations of Mindful Eating at this link: stream.pvweb.org/
